Garth Brooks performed on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ after previously canceling. His disheveled look didn’t make the country singer look like he’s got his act together.

Garth Brooks returned to the stage on Monday, delighting fans and surprising critics who’ve noted that he’s laid low lately. After abruptly canceling his Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance just days ago, “The Dance” singer‘s show was back on. Cameras spotted Brooks entering the El Capitan Entertainment Center in Hollywood pre-taping. His outfit raised eyebrows. Although the country singer is known for his casual looks, this one was especially comfy.

Brooks donned a casual if not messy outfit for his pre-show entrance. “The Thunder Rolls” singer wore a black “Life is Good” crewneck sweatshirt over a worn tee shirt and baggy sweatpants. He added a black and teal Pittsburgh Pirates ball cap, turquoise sunglasses, and leather Nike boots. As he greeted fans outside of Jimmy Kimmel’s studios, he carried an old Nike duffel bag.

Brooks is not known for his cutting-edge fashion sense. But this outfit especially communicated that he’s seeking comfort and support amid his ongoing legal battles. The disheveled look certainly didn’t make him look like he’s got his act together. For the performance itself, Brooks changed his outfit a bit. He donned black jeans and a hoody sweatshirt honoring late country singer Chris LeDoux. He also wore the same Pirates baseball hat and Nike shoes for the show.

Sexual assault allegations threaten to ruin Garth Brooks’ ‘good guy’ persona

Brooks is facing allegations of sexual assault made by a former hairstylist and makeup artist going by the pseudonym “Jane Roe.” The lawsuit, filed in October 2024, accuses the 62-year-old of unwanted sexual advances and harassment dating back to 2019. Brooks quickly refuted the claims as false and labeled them an “extortion attempt.”

He preemptively filed a lawsuit in September, hoping to prevent the public release of the accusations. The “Friends in Low Places” has maintained his innocence and expressed his commitment to defending his character throughout this legal process. Brooks also revised his schedule to avoid several high-exposure performances and events.

Days after the “Callin’ Baton Rouge” singer canceled his Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance, ticket holders received a surprising update from audience casting agency 1iota. It announced, via The U.S. Sun, “The Garth Brooks Outdoor Mini-Concert on Monday, November 25th is moving back outside as originally scheduled.” Aside from this internal notice to fans, there was no public announcement regarding the concert’s reinstatement. Still, Brooks’ show carried on.

We can only imagine the distress caused by this lawsuit for all parties involved. Brooks is married to fellow country star Trisha Yearwood. Fans have revered their union since their nuptials in 2005. He also has three daughters from a previous marriage: Taylor, August, and Allie.

Although we don’t know much about “Jane Roe,” we can infer that she has also experienced great distress. Her lawsuit includes details of a “sexually hostile workplace” before her allegedly rape in 2019. She also claims that Brooks “took advantage” of her financial difficulties around 2019 by calling on her for sexual favors. We can only hope that the truth prevails in this controversial scandal.
