Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner files UK divorce case after Joe Jonas applied for separation in the US

GAME of Thrones star Sophie Turner has filed a divorce case in the UK after husband Joe Jonas did the same in the US, a court heard yesterday.

The actress, 27, made the move as she fights to bring their two daughters back to England.

It came after her estranged singer husband, whom she wed in 2019, filed for divorce in Miami this month.

Turner then filed papers in New York accusing Jonas, 34, of refusing to hand over their passports and citing child abduction law.

Their friends, family and schools are all in England, papers claim.

Yesterday, at a first hearing in Miami, Jonas’ lawyer claimed Turner had “elected to initiate a UK divorce proceeding”.

Neither star was there but were told by a judge to attend the next hearing, which will probably be in December.

He called Turner’s request to stop the Miami proceedings entirely ‘particularly concerning and problematic’.

He claimed that she had ‘elected to initiate a UK divorce proceeding’ and wanted to ‘stop these proceedings in their tracks’.

Volgelsang told the judge ‘that’s not what we’re saying’ and that they only wanted a stay on Judge Young making an order in the divorce until the New York case is resolved.

Judge Young told the court that he would deal with everything else in the divorce apart from the children.

Turner and Jonas were married in 2019 but, according to legal filings, their marriage rapidly broke down in August after a row.

The nature of the argument has not been revealed, although sources close to Jonas have claimed that he saw something on his Ring security camera that convinced him his marriage was over.
