Fury as Katie Price invests in racing greyhound despite having SEVEN pets die in her care

KATIE Price is facing fresh fury from animal rights campaigners after investing in a racing greyhound.

She co-owns the female dog, called Barbie Bullet, despite having seven pets previously die in her care – including pooches and horses.

Animal charity Peta, which previously offered Katie £5,000 to stop acquiring animals, last night said the offer “still stands” after we approached them about the greyhound.

But sources last night insisted mum-of-five Katie, 46, “loves” Barbie Bullet and it is an investment.

One said: “Katie adores animals and this is a way of her potentially making a little bit of money.

“It’s not a lucrative sport, though, so mostly she just wants to get a bit of fun and joy out of her investment.

“Racing dogs have good people around them who give them attentive care, and Barbie Bullet is no different.

“There’s absolutely no need to worry about the welfare of this dog.”

Two-year-old Barbie Bullet has won six of her 41 races, coming third in her last outing on March 1.

She races at Hove in East Sussex, a 25-minute drive from Katie’s home in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

Sports data website Timeform says the dog has four owners, with Katie listed as “Miss K Price” and another being “Miss L A Rickwood” – understood to be her close friend Lynne Rickwood.

Katie Price gets SEVENTH dog despite string of her pets suffering grisly deaths – saying ‘what difference is one more?’

In February, Peta offered Katie £5,000 to sign a legally-binding agreement vowing to never acquire an animal again.

Katie has seen five dogs, a horse and a chameleon die in her care – most in road accidents.

Elisa Allen, the organisation’s vice president of UK programmes and operations, previously said in a letter to the star: “While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned.

“Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution.”

In February, Katie told The Sun: “When people say I shouldn’t have animals, it’s circumstances that were out of my hands. It’s no lack of me not looking after them. I love animals.”

Katie was approached for comment over her greyhound.
