‘Found’ Season 2: An Old Case Hits Close to Home for Trent [Exclusive Clip]

Will revisiting a cold case reopen old wounds? In this exclusive clip in the March 13 episode of NBC’s Found, Trent (Brett Dalton) and Gabi (Shanola Hampton) discuss his desire to get clarity in a case involving seven missing kids. But she warns him that his quest for closure might not bring the answers he hopes.

Trent can’t let go of a decades-old case in the next episode of NBC’s ‘Found’

In “Missing While Seeking Asylum,” Trent struggles with a lack of closure in an old missing persons case.

“I thought I could forget, you know?” the D.C. detective tells Gabi. “But I just can’t get these seven missing kids out of my head.”

“It’s been decades, Trent. If those children were still alive…” she replies. “As adults, they would have come forward by now.”

“Even dead, Gabi, their families still deserve closure,” Trent says. “I still need closure.”

Gabi agrees to help Trent, on two conditions

For Trent, revisiting this case is about more than finding justice for the victims and their families. It also ties into his thorny relationship with his dad, who, from the sound of things, was involved in the initial investigation into the disappearances. Trent knows that digging into the past is risky. But he wants the truth. And to get that, he needs Gabi’s help.

“If my father did wrong, then he needs to pay,” he says. “But I can’t do this alone, Gabi. Do you have any idea what the department would do if they found out I was investigating one of their own?”

Reluctantly, Gabi agrees that she and her team at M&A will look into the case. But she has a couple of conditions. One is that she won’t be communicating with Sir (Mark Paul Gosselaar). She also wants “full transparency” from Trent.

Trent is grateful for Gabi’s help. But she warns him not to get too excited.

“Don’t thank me,” she says. “If Sir is right, what we find could change everything. Not just with you. But with your family [and] the D.C. PD.”

What will Gabi’s investigation reveal? We’ll have to tune in to find out, but whatever happens sounds major. Hampton told NBC Insider that “Missing While Seeking Asylum” was a must-watch episode.

”We have never done something of this magnitude,” said. “That was probably my favorite, and it was directed by my favorite director, Michael Schultz.”

Found Season 2 airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
