Forest Whitaker‘s daughters are all grown up. The father of four created a beautiful blended family with his late ex-wife, Keisha. Now that the kids are young adults, they attend special events with their dad when the occasion calls for it. On October 30, Forest and his second-oldest biological daughter, True Whitaker, had a heartwarming father-daughter date at the Dune: Prophecy world premiere.
Forest Whitaker and daughter True turn out for ‘Dune: Prophecy’
True Whitaker, his youngest daughter, shared photos of their evening on her Instagram Stories. The 26-year-old posted images of the Dune: Propechy billboard, Forest hugging Prophecy star Tabu, and herself beaming with her dad. The latter photo featured a tear eyed emoji and red heart emoji. True calls her dad “very supportive” of her acting career, reports the NY Post.
After high school, True studied creative writing at New York University. The 26-year-old is pursuing acting, splitting her time between NYC and LA. True first appeared in a small role on Forest’s crime drama series Godfather of Harlem. Now, she’s starring in a forthcoming untitled HBO series with Rachel Sennott, Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, and Miles Robbins.
True is a fashionista just like her mom. For the special evening at NYC’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, she wore a 1994 Jean Paul Gaultier top in a green Roman print with a rosary-style beaded necklace. True added a black and pink bikini slip by Hervé Léger over sheer black tights, posing alongside her dad who wore a classic blue suit and bright white button-up.
True credits her dad for raising her and her siblings with open minds and hearts. She thanks the Hurricane Season actor for passing along her empathy and wit, explaining to the NY Post, “I feel like he’s taught me and my brother and sisters to approach life with a sense of understanding and openness to different types of people in this world — to embrace different types of people, with different energies and from different walks of life.”
Forest Whitaker’s kids and late ex-wife
Forest met True’s mom, Keisha Nash Whitaker, on the set of 1994 action thriller film, Blown Away. They wed in 1996 and had two daughters together, Sonnet (b. 1996) and True (b. 1998). Forest already had a son, Ocean (b. 1990), with a previous partner. Keisha had a daughter, Autumn (b. 1992), from a previous relationship. Each considered themselves to have four children as they co-parented the whole bunch.
After 22 years of marriage, in December 2018, Forest and Keisha divorced, citing irreconcilable differences. Sadly, in December 2023, True confirmed that her mother had died at 51, reports People. She did not provide the cause of death. But the then-25-year-old did share on her Instagram Stories, “goodbye mommy. I love you 4ever and beyond. the most beautiful woman in the world… thank you for teaching me every single thing I know. I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”
