Email ‘exposing Philip Schofield’s affair with young lover to ITV bosses’ is revealed

AN EMAIL allegedly sent by an ex-This Morning employee to ITV bosses laying bare rumours of Phillip Schofield’s affair has been revealed.

A former This Morning staff member tried to warn higher-ups about the veteran presenter’s then-rumoured relationship with a much younger male colleague in 2020, it has been revealed.

The letter, seen by MailOnline, was apparently sent to ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall and ITV Studios’ managing director Julian Bellamy.

It is believed to have called for Schofield, 61, to be suspended while a possible abuse of power was investigated.

Excerpts of the note read: “With the current rumours and accusations swirling around about Phillip Schofield…why is he still on our screens?

“Why have ITV not suspended him pending an internal inquiry?

“I would have thought in this day and age that a mainstream broadcaster such as ITV ought to be seen to be doing all it can to deal with issues like this, find out where the truth lies and, in the meantime, suspend those who the rumours concern.”

The email also reportedly contained a link to a YouTube video detailing the history of the relationship before it was revealed publicly this month.

This was said to include photos of the pair at work and text conversations alleged to have taken place between them.

The former staff member concluded: “Come on ITV – it’s time to take action and do the responsible thing.”

They claimed that neither McCall or Bellamy responded to this or multiple follow-up communications.

Neither has yet commented publicly on the scandal.

It comes after ITV claimed that they had investigated Schofield in 2020, branding the former star a liar.

However, the probe found no evidence “beyond hearsay and rumour” according to the broadcaster.

Meanwhile, ITV director of television Kevin Lygo broke his silence to deny reports that This Morning faced being axed over the affair.

Schofield himself also took to social media to post a statement, in which he blamed “people with grudges” for many of the allegations against him.

That was not enough, though, to prevent him being axed today from his role as an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust.

He was also scrubbed from This Morning’s social media and website as the fallout from his affair continues.
