HOLLYWOOD star Drew Barrymore has paused the return of her US talk show as the Hollywood writers’ strikes continue.
The US actress, 48, had faced a public backlash after announcing The Drew Barrymore Show was back in production.
This was despite writers’ union, the WGA, being on strike since May, and Sag-Aftra, the actors’ union, since July.
Barrymore had claimed the show complied with strike rules — but it sparked criticism online and last week’s tapings were picketed.
The star said last night: “I have listened to everyone and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over.”
In a social media video, since deleted, she said: “I want everyone to know my intentions have never been in a place to upset or hurt anyone.”

In May, The Sun revealed The Emmy-award nominated series was coming to the UK for the first time.
The daily talk show, which streams exclusively on Pluto TV, is a lively blend of humour, heart and features A-list guests each day.
First aired in the US in 2020, Drew, 48, has run for three series in the States, with the UK now able to catch up ahead of the fourth series.
The series is affectionately referred to as ‘just Drew’ and has received acclaim for its uplifting and inspiring stories, interviews with celebrities and experts, and comedy sketches.
Filmed in front of a live studio audience, the talk show is known for its positive message and Drew’s infectious personality.
Big stars are a staple of each show, with Whoopi Goldberg, Brooke Shields, Cameron Diaz, and Machine Gun Kelly all taking to Drew’s sofa to chat.
