Donald Glover cancels remainder of Childish Gambino tour dates to get surgery amid mystery illness

Donald Glover has canceled the remainder of his Childish Gambino New World Tour dates in North America, Europe and the United Kingdom amid a mystery illness.

“After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,” he explained on X Friday.

“After being assesed, it became clear i would not perform that night, and after more tests, i could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked. As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal.”

While the “This Is America” hitmaker did not reveal why he needs surgery, he told fans he would take his healing process “seriously.”

He concluded, “I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support.”

Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.

Page Six reached out to the musician’s rep for further comment.

Glover, 41, initially postponed his Sept. 8. Houston concert “due to illness” and announced on Sept. 9 that he needed to postpone the rest of his North American dates to focus on his “physical health for a few weeks.”

He confirmed he planned to keep his health woes to himself when he specifically thanked fans for their “love,” “support” and “privacy.”

The Grammy winner announced the massive world tour in May after he released his album “Atavista,” which is a reworked version of his 2020 project, “3.15.20.”

The New World Tour kicked off in August and was set to run through Oct. 3 in the United States before going overseas.

The tour was also meant to be a farewell to his stage name, Childish Gambino.

His final record released under the moniker, “Bando Stone & the New World,” debuted in July.

That same month, Glover told the New York Times he felt his stage name was “not fulfilling.”

“And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore,” he added.
