Royal family
Find out why a royal expert is slamming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now.
Prince Harry is again in a legal battle over the security he lost after he and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020.
Following a two-day hearing at the Court of Appeal in London, Harry spoke to The Telegraph and claimed that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case” and “people would be shocked by what’s being held back.”
Here’s more on that report and why a royal commentator just called Harry out as well as his wife dubbing the duchess “Her Ruthless Homewrecker.”
Prince Harry says ‘worst fears were confirmed’ as his family tried to keep him and Meghan in the U.K.
To Di For Daily podcast host Kinsey Schofield talked to Sky News host Rita Panahi about the Duke of Sussex’s claims that the royals tried to “trap” him and the former Suits star in Britain.
“The royal family at this point in time after the Oprah Winfrey interview, after Spare, after the Netflix series, want nothing to do with these two people,” Schofield told Panahi. “Do we really believe the royal family was trying to trap them in the U.K.?”
Schofield then cited a Daily Beast report about the subject and said, “The desire not to have the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ever return has intensified. They want anything to do with Harry and Meghan. This just plays into their victimhood narrative that Prince Harry has been milking since he quit his job. But I disagree with him. I don’t think the royal family has any desire to have him.”
Friends of the royals did tell the publication: “The last thing anyone in the family wanted after the couple left in a blaze of recriminations was for Harry or Markle to step foot in the U.K. ever again. The queen, for example, made it very clear that they couldn’t be half commercial and half royal, would have to give up their HRHs, and wished them well with their life overseas.”
Schofield also discussed the recent news that the royals are not pleased at all with Meghan after she shared a letter via social media with her being addressed as “Your Royal Highness.”
The letter was from Ukraine’s vice president and began, “Your Royal Highness, I would like to express my sincere thanks for everything your family is doing for Ukraine,” following Prince Harry’s brief visit with troops in the war-torn country.
When she and Harry left the U.K., they had an agreement with Queen Elizabeth II not to use their His/Her Royal Highness titles anymore. So publishing a letter addressing her as such is not sitting well with some members of the Firm.
“It’s so disrespectful to Queen Elizabeth II’s memory. The only thing HRH stands for in association with Meghan Markle is Her Ruthless Homewreckerness,” Schofield said, before adding, “I do not think Meghan Markle should be utilizing the title. This is just her way of trying to remind the world that she, for 18 months, was a royal.”
