ENGLAND great Wayne Rooney “really struggled” after wife Coleen had a miscarriage with their first baby, she has revealed.
And she underestimated the impact of the “heartbreaking” tragedy on the former Manchester United footballer.

It happened shortly after the couple got married in 2008 and Coleen said Wayne sat her down and said: “I know it’s hard for you but it’s hard for me as well.”
She added: “It wasn’t till he said that to me that I realised, ‘You’re right, it is, you wanted the baby just as much, if not more than me’.
“Wayne really struggled with it, and that’s where I feel like I need to say it’s not all about the women.
“We need to take care of the men as well, because I do feel like they get forgotten about a lot.”

Coleen said they had told their parents about the pregnancy and were waiting for their 12-week scan but “unfortunately, didn’t get to it”.
She explained she experienced bleeding and after trips to the hospital, tragically lost the baby.
She said it left her concerned over her ability to have children with fertility issues in her family.
Coleen, 37, said she discussed the ordeal with her mother but it was “something we kept really quiet”.
She told the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast: “This is the first time ever I’ve spoken publicly about it.
“We’d just been married, it was a happy time, we wanted a family but it didn’t work out. It has now.”
She and Birmingham City boss Wayne have four boys — Kai, 14, Klay, ten, Kit, seven, and Cass, five.
But Coleen said: “I went on to have another miscarriage between my second and third [son], and then I began to wonder, ‘Can I not carry girls?’. That was something that does play on my mind.”
