Chris Brown’s world tour WILL go ahead after star granted bail over ‘nightclub attack’ – but he must pay £4M to be freed

CHRIS Brown will be allowed to kick off his world tour next month after being granted bail over an alleged bottle attack.

The American singer, 36, is accused of assaulting producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, Central London, in February 2023.

Brown was arrested at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Manchester last week after flying into the city on a private jet.

The 36-year-old appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on Friday charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

District Judge Joanne Hirst said the case was “too serious” to be dealt with in her court and remanded him in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court next month.

But Brown was today granted bail after a further application was made to the London court.

His Honour Judge Tony Baumgartner laid out a number of conditions the rapper must abide by.

He said the two-time Grammy winner must reside at an address known to the court.

A security of £5million must also be lodged with the court – and £4million of that must be provided before he can be released from custody.

Brown is banned from contacting his co-accused Omolulu Akinlolu, who was charged with GBH by the Met on Saturday.

He is also forbidden from contacting the complainant Mr Diaw or from attending the Tape Nightclub.

The bail conditions mean Brown must surrender his passport or any travel documents to police.

But there are exceptions which allow him to continue his Breezy Bowl XX tour.

Each time the singer needs to travel internationally for a gig, his passport will be collected from police and returned to him by a lawyer.

He will then surrender the document to another lawyer when he arrives at his destination.

They will retain it until he needs to travel to the next country.

Chris Brown’s Breezy Bowl XX Tour

Chris Brown announced his 20-year-anniversary tour in March 2025.

The tour is set to kick off on June 8 in Amsterdam, before he travelled over to the UK.

He will be joined by R&B superstar Summer Walker in America and Bryson Tiller in Europe and the UK.

His UK performance dates include:

  • Sun Jun 15 – Manchester – Co-Op Live
  • Mon Jun 16 – Manchester – Co-Op Live
  • Thu Jun 19 – Cardiff – Cardiff Principality Stadium
  • Sat Jun 21 – London – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
  • Thu Jun 26 – Birmingham – Villa Park Stadium
  • Tue Jul 1 – Glasgow, UK – Hampden Park

Mr Baumgartner moved Brown’s Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing to June 20 to coincide with his co-defendant’s appearance.

The singer is set to kick off his 20-year anniversary tour in Amsterdam, Netherlands next month.

The UK-leg begins on June 15, starting with two nights at the Co-op Live stadium in Manchester, followed by performances in Cardiff, London, Birmingham and Glasgow.

He will return to the US on July 30 for the North American tour, ending in Memphis on October 19.

He will be required to be back in the UK on October 24 for a further case management hearing.

On Friday, the 36-year-old appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

The court heard how Brown allegedly struck Diaw “several times” with a bottle before chasing him across the bar then punching and kicking him alongside another person.

The alleged attack was captured on CCTV in a club “full of people”, it was said.

District Judge Joanne Hirst said the case was “too serious” to be dealt with in her court.

The Met said in a previous statement: ‘’A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

‘’He has been taken into custody where he remains.

“The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.

‘’The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.’’
