Thanks, I Hate It
Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple haven’t decided on a place to live yet. For now, they remain long distance, but Joan Vassos insists everything is good.
Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple found love on The Golden Bachelorette. While the duo haven’t been together a year yet, fans remain hopeful that they will be able to make things work. A recent update from Vassos, however, has some fans concerned about the health of the fledgling relationship. The golden couple still hasn’t settled on a single place to call home, and that feels a bit too much like Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner’s relationship for fans’ comfort. Still, Vassos insists everything is OK.
Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are still long distance
When Joan Vassos fell for Chock Chapple, the pair decided to find a little pied-à-terre in New York City. It’s been months since they committed to each other, but they appear no closer to having a shared place. Joan Vassos appeared on I Do, Part 2, and admitted she and Chock Chapple still lived in two different states. She mostly calls Maryland home, and he remains in Kansas. It’s not a problem though, she says.

Vassos insists that she’s enjoying the long-distance nature of her relationship right now. In fact, she claims that she’s in no big rush to move in together and doesn’t see herself thinking about living in the same place with Chapple for the time being. She insists that the distance has allowed them to have a more fun experience than if they were living together in the same house or even the same state.
Despite enjoying herself, she admits that there is a trick to making it work. During her appearance on I Do, Part 2, Vassos insists she and Chapple are putting in the work to prioritize their relationship. She said if they haven’t come together in a couple of weeks, they plan a meet-up. In recent months, they’ve been in each other’s homes, traveled to Mexico together, and visited New York City.
‘The Golden Bachelorette’ fans fear for the relationship
While Joan Vassos insists she and Chock Chapple are doing just fine together, The Golden Bachelorette fans can’t help but worry about the couple’s long-term compatibility. From the moment the network announced the “golden” incarnation of the famed dating competition, location concerns have plagued the series. The breakdown of Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner’s short-lived marriage seemed to confirm fan worries.

Sure, long-distance did play a part at the end of the first golden marriage. Several contestants have said location issues do concern them regarding dating. Still, Vassos and Chapple are different in one key way. Vassos was open to the idea of a long-distance relationship before she even began filming the series. During a chat with CNN in May 2024, she said she’d consider long-distance if the right person came along. For now, Chapple is the right person.
