Fans know Cardi B for her daring choices and wild looks, especially when attending events that align with her fearless fashion. One of the 31-year-old’s favorite labels, which she’s sported numerous times, is Mugler. Naturally, Cardi B attended the French fashion house’s spring/summer show 2025 fashion show in Paris. As the rapper posed for photos before the show, she turned heads with a blunt boy-cut hairstyle fit for an edgy queen.
Cardi B flew to Paris for several Fashion Week presentations, including Balmain, Rabanne, and Mugler’s womenswear shows. Although she debuted gorgeous, unique looks at all three events, her Mugler ensemble was the most daring. The “WAP” rapper wore a black miniskirt and long-sleeved matching jacket with a plunging neckline and wide boxy peplum silhouette. She walked in exaggerated pointed-toe heels and wore sheer black stockings.
For a goth-inspired look, Cardi B lined her lips in black, fading to her natural lip color. Her hairstylist pulled her natural dark tresses into a tight subtle chignon, giving the appearance of a shaved head. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper added blunt bangs that tapered to her nose, barely parting enough to allow her to see.
Dazed reports that Zhou Xue Ming created Cardi’s wig, which perfectly matched her natural hair color. The Chinese hairstylist, wig maker, and artist was also in charge of the hair looks for Mugler’s models, who walked the runway in front of celebs like Laverne Cox and Law Roach. Cardi B’s longtime love and connection to Mugler made her a natural fit for the presentation.
Cardi B’s longtime relationship with Mugler
The “Up” rapper has worn Mugler to the Grammy Awards and other high-profile events. As one of the few celebrities the late designer Manfred Thierry Mugler trusted, Cardi B has always respected his vision.
Thierry died of natural causes on January 23, 2022. Shortly afterward, the mother of three took to Instagram to share how much Thierry meant to her. “Mr. Mugler was one of the FIRST designers to take a major chance on me, allowing me to wear one of his ICONIC archive pieces for my Grammy red carpet look in 2019,” she captioned a carousel of photos featuring the late designer.
Cardi B continued, “Over the years me, him and Kollin [Carter] created even more fashion moments but nothing tops being able to finally meet him in person last year in Paris at his museum exhibit. It’s so crazy because I was second-guessing if I should go … but something in my spirit kept saying ‘GO.’ Maybe God knew that if I didn’t go then I may have never had the opportunity to thank him for everything he did and the doors he opened for me. Mr. Mugler was still putting his foot on necks at 73 years old!!! A true inspiration for all of us. Rest in Paradise Manfred Thierry Mugler.”
Cardi B’s stylist made it happen
As Cardi B’s stylist, Kollin Carter, explained via WWD, he messaged Thierry Mugler on Instagram in September 2018. This led to the label opening its archives to a celebrity for just the second time in 25 years. (Beyoncé was the first.) Carter left with several pieces, including the pink satin and black velvet dress Cardi B wore to the 2019 Grammys. Although Thierry has passed, we’re certain Cardi’s connection to his legacy will live on.
