It could make him the oldest ever performer at the annual festival, after Burt Bacharach played in 2015 aged 87.
In an exclusive chat with The Sun, he said: “I wouldn’t mind doing Glastonbury.
“I’d have to have the right songs for that particular show.
“But my new project that I’m doing right now, may give me that opportunity.
“I’m not going to talk about it too much but it’s out of my comfort zone of my own kind of music.
“It’s taking me into a different style which may take me to Glastonbury.”
Englebert – who has just collaborated with singer Emin on his album Now Or Never, out on Friday – said he hopes to work with Gorillaz for his upcoming record.
He missed out on an opportunity to collaborate with the group on their 2010 album Plastic Beach after his then-manager rejected an approach from Damon Albarn, 55.
The Brit, who had hits including Release Me and A Man Without Love, said: “That was a terrible, terrible mistake.
“I was being handled by somebody at that time who had no idea about music and didn’t know who Gorillaz were.
“I would have jumped at it if they’d spoken to me.
“But this guy knew nothing about it and that’s why he’s not with me today.
“Hopefully, with this new project that I’m recording right now, it might bring it to fruition to record with these sort of people.
“I want to record with them.”
