Ben Affleck finalized his divorce from Jennifer Lopez in 2025, ending the Bennifer era for good. After two years of marriage, the media followed his and Lopez’s marital decline in 2024. Affleck consistently went to his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, for support. This prompted suspicion that he and Garner might rekindle their old flame. Here’s what Affleck recently said about receiving support from Matt Damon while not having “very many friends” amid a tumultuous few years.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were a fan-favorite couple for years. They tied the knot in 2005 and separated in 2015 before finalizing their divorce in 2018. Despite their divorce, they stayed close, having three children together. After a 2025 paintball outing for their son’s birthday, rumors swirled around the exes and suggested Affleck would love a second chance with Garner.
In March 2025, an insider told Page Six that Affleck “would love another chance” with Garner. However, he knows it’s likely impossible and doesn’t want to come between Garner and her boyfriend of several years, John Miller.
“Ben just got out of a marriage and finalized his divorce [from Jennifer Lopez]; he is really busy with work and is focused on this new chapter,” the source noted. “Plus, Ben respects Jen’s relationship with John [Miller] and would never come between them.”
Amid the rumors, Affleck spent time with his best friend, Matt Damon. Damon and Affleck stepped out at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 8, 2025. Affleck arrived at the festival for the world premiere of The Accountant 2. Damon co-produced the film with their company, Artists Equity.
Affleck praised his friendship with Damon. While Affleck’s relationships came and went, his friendship with Damon remained.
“It’s a beautiful thing. You know, I don’t have very many — none of us really have very many friends,” Affleck told reporters for People. “You don’t need a million friends; you need a few good ones. And I’m really lucky to have had a friend in Matt. .. I’m lucky to have friends like that in my life.”
