BBC radio star dies suddenly aged 76 after four decades on air as heartbroken family pay tribute

A BBC radio legend Tim Jibson has died aged 76.

The DJ and dad-of-three passed away suddenly on February 9 surrounded by his family.

From 1972 onwards, Tim was presenter at BBC Radio Humberside, Viking, KCFM & Beverley FM, as well as running Adventures in Radio.

He is perhaps best known for Humberside’s The Paull Hunsley Electric Wireless Show.

He is survived by his wife Ann Marie and his children Michael, Paul and Lexi.

Tim was also granddad to Flora, Rowan and Kaia.

In an obituary, he has been described as “a good friend to many”.

Paying tribute, one fan on X said: “My goodness no. This news has hit me harder than I thought it would.

“Terribly sad. Immediate flashback in my mind to my youth and the days of Paull Hunsley.

“Tim was always so supportive and encouraging. Instantly recognisable voice across E Yorks & N Lincs. RIP Tim.”

Headshot of Tim, smiling.
