Taking to X, formerly Twitter, he posed for some shots inside the gym and on a tennis court.

The actor shared a camera emoji in his caption, adding: “Dan_Avasilcai (Ralph Fiennes’ personal trainer) #RalphFiennes #TheReturn,” referencing his latest film.

In an interview with The Guardian last month, the Harry Potter star described the demanding training regime he underwent to play Greek hero, Odysseus

Ralph said he worked with a personal trainer over five months in preparation for the role, including an intensive 10-week period ahead of filming.

The regimen combined running and weight training, but avoided the typical “gym body” often associated with action roles.

He said: “Uberto was very clear. He didn’t want me to have a sort of bulked-up gym body,” adding that he instructed the trainer to make him look “look like a bit of old rope”.

Uberto Pasolini added that he was not initially sold on his leading man’s fitness plan.

He said: “I have to confess, I was slightly suspicious that there was so much protein going in and so much exercise that we would have a body that looked exercised instead of a body that was consumed, a lived body.

“There is no gym in ancient Greece.”

Ralph later said the transformation was motivated in part by the film’s inclusion of nude scenes, which required his body to reflect the hardships faced by the character.

He stated during a Q&A screening in London: “In the script it was clear – the nakedness. In The Odyssey, he throws off his rags, so it was clear that I had to show my body.

“I wanted it to be believable as a man who’s fought and sailed and swum and has not eaten very much.”

The Return marks the third on-screen collaboration between Ralph and his co-star Juliette Binoche, following 1996’s The English Patient and the 1992 adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
