Most of Hollywood has opted to ignore Kanye West and his recent antics. While DJ Akademiks gave him a platform, the rest of the entertainment industry is steering clear of him. Azealia Banks doesn’t think that is the best course of action. Banks, who has been open about her personal drama with Kanye West, took to social media to plead for Taylor Swift to go toe-to-toe with West and shut him down once and for all.
Azealia Banks wants other people to call Kanye West out on his behavior
Azealia Banks isn’t shy about her distaste for Kanye West. She’s been calling the rap mogul out for years. In 2018, she took to Instagram to discuss his erratic behavior. She likened him to “that crazy cousin nobody wants to deal with.”
She called him out again in 2022 after he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt. Banks called West an attention-seeker and noted how dangerous and offensive the stunt had been. She also accused him of using mental health as an excuse for thoughtless behavior, saying, “Being bipolar is not an excuse to be a jerk.”
Banks had stayed quiet for a while, but West’s most recent string of social media outbursts has clearly left her unsettled. In her own X rant, Banks made several lofty claims about West’s sexual history, then called for Taylor Swift to step forward and put Kanye West in his place. Banks has since deleted the tweet, but Hot 97 reports that she wrote, “Omg, when is Miss Taylor just going to get this dude?” She asked the famed pop artist to do it for “all the Black girls he steals from daily.”
Kanye West and Taylor Swift’s Feud explained
Kanye West kicked off his 15-year feud with Taylor Swift in 2009. Unprompted, West stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards to interrupt Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video. He grabbed the microphone and declared, “Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” The moment shocked the audience and left Swift, then just 19, stunned.
Following the incident, West faced widespread backlash, and Swift received an outpouring of support. The two appeared to reconcile publicly in the following years, even posing for photos together. However, tensions resurfaced in 2016 with the release of West’s song “Famous,” in which he rapped, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous.” Swift responded, insisting she had not approved of the lyric.
The feud escalated further when Kim Kardashian released a video on Snapchat that appeared to show Swift approving part of the lyric during a phone call with West. Swift later clarified on Instagram that she “was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that b**** famous.’”
Taylor Swift hasn’t bothered to comment on any of West’s most recent antics. Still, he’s continued to take aim at her. Recently, he suggested she had a sexual encounter with Justin Bieber and Harry Styles. He once again, implied he was interested in hooking up with her. The comments came via X during one of West’s recent tirades.
