Andrew, 75, first revealed that his son Nick, 43, who is also a composer, was battling cancer earlier this week.
The father-of-two told how his son has been battling gastric cancer for the past 18 months, and is “critically ill”.
Now, the star issued an update on his ongoing struggle, as he admitted that Nick was recovering from a bout of pneumonia.
He told his Instagram followers that Nick was “over the worst of this first bout of pneumonia”, and was being cared for by his family.

In a video posted to his social media, Andrew said: “I want to thank you for the outpouring of messages of support for my son, Nick.
“He’s now been moved into a hospice and he’s battling away.

“I think he’s over the worst of this first bout of pneumonia that he’s got as a result of his cancer, which is just ghastly.”
“We’re all here and the family here has gathered around, it was the right place for us all to be I think,” he added.
His friends and followers flooded the comments section with messages of support, telling Andrew they “love him and his family”.
“All of our love and prayers are with you and your family!” one wrote, as another said: “Best wishes to Nick, and to you all.”
“Sending my thoughts and strength to you and your family,” a third added, while a fourth said: “We miss you. Sending all our love.”
It comes after Andrew revealed Nick was critically ill in hospital.
In a statement shared in the Hollywood Reporter, he wrote: “I am absolutely devastated to say that my eldest son Nick is critically ill.
“As my friends and family know, he has been fighting gastric cancer for the last 18 months and Nick is now hospitalised.”
He added: “We are all praying that Nick will turn the corner. He is bravely fighting with his indomitable humour, but at the moment my place is with him and the family.”
