Key Art for 'And Just Like That...' Season 3

‘And Just Like That…’ will return for its 3rd season on May 29th. The much-awaited season 3 is nearly two years in the making. The trailer reveals that Aidan Shaw has returned, but his relationship with Carrie Bradshaw remains complicated.

It’s official: the wait is almost over for Sex and the City fans. Months after season 3 of And Just Like That… wrapped filming, Max has given the season a premiere date. Along with that release date comes a trailer that proves the show’s writers are all in on Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw’s romance.

Max gives ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3 a May premiere date

On Apr. 15, Max shocked And Just Like That… fans by dropping a surprise trailer for the show’s much-anticipated third season. The trailer, which artfully shares scenes from the upcoming season without giving much away, hints at strife between Lisa Todd Wexley and her husband, Herbert. It teases the continuation of Miranda Hobbes’ sexual awakening and new dating life and boldly proclaims the return of Aidan Shaw. According to a press release, the series will premiere on May 29.

The premiere date is bit ahead of schedule, at least based on what Michael Patrick King said months ago. During a chat with Kristin Davis on Are You a Charlotte?, King casually mentioned that the third season would premiere “in the summer.” While Max has leaned into the “summer” branding, its release date is very much in the spring. Summer officially begins on Jun. 20, almost a month after And Just Like That… season 3 premieres.

Still, the series will run through most of the summer months. Season 3 of the beloved series will include 12 episodes, ending with a finale on Aug. 14. It is unclear if Max plans to bring the series back for a fourth season.

Aidan Shaw returns for season 3 in a big way

While the trailer provides plenty of shots of Carrie and her pals, it gives little away about the plotlines fans can expect to see. The trailer does, however, make it abundantly clear that Carrie and Aidan’s on-again-off-again romance is very much still a thing.

Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw’s relationship is a poignant thread woven throughout Sex and the City and its reboot, And Just Like That… Aidan, a kind-hearted furniture designer, enters Carrie’s life in Season 3 of SATC, offering her a stable alternative to her rocky romance with Mr. Big. Carrie’s lingering feelings for Big lead to a betrayal that eventually causes their first breakup. They reconnect in Season 4, and Aidan proposes, but commitment fears and trust issues lead to another split.

Years later, they reconnect in season 2 of And Just Like That… After chatting via email, Carrie and Aidan meet again—older, wiser, and shaped by death and divorce. The spark is still there despite the years, and they quickly rekindle their romance. Despite their desire to reconnect, merging Aidan’s Virginia-based life with Carrie’s New York world proves difficult. When fans last left them, Aidan had asked Carrie to wait five years for him to work through issues with his youngest son. It’s unclear if season 3 will pick up where we left off or jump ahead to the future, but either way, Aidan is very much back.

Either way, the wait is almost over.
