‘And Just Like That…’ should focus on resolving abandoned storylines, now that the series has seemingly found its footing.
And Just Like That… season 3 is in full swing. While the Sex and the City reboot has, once again, been met with mixed reviews, some fans think season 3 feels closer to the original series. While we’ve loved what we’ve seen so far, we can’t help but be bothered by the storylines that the And Just Like That… writing team seemingly abandoned. We need these three storylines completed.
Natasha Naginsky’s inheritance storyline feels incomplete
The storyline for season 1 of And Just Like That… was dominated by Mr. Big’s sudden and tragic death. The entire season centered around Carrie’s search for peace and answers, but somehow, the writing team dropped one of the most interesting storylines to come out of Big’s death. In the show’s third episode, Carrie learns that her late husband left $1 million to his second ex-wife, Natasha Naginsky. Deeply troubled by the odd decision, Carrie seeks out Natasha for answers. While they did sit down and talk, the mystery of the inheritance was never actually solved.
Not only do fans never learn why Natasha did with the money, as she insisted she would not accept it, but they never learned exactly why he left it to her. Sure, Carrie offered a vague platitude, suggesting John James Preston was trying to apologize to Natasha for his wrongdoing, but that feels flat. There should have been much more to the story.
Fans deserve to know why Kathy and Aidan got divorced
Aidan Shaw and Kathy’s co-parenting relationship has significantly impacted Carrie and Aidan’s relationship. It became a massive problem in a recent episode when Aidan admitted he slept with his ex-wife after dropping their troubled son off at the airport. While And Just Like That… fans have seen their co-parenting dynamic and their troubled family structure, their storyline feels too mysterious to fit in with this series.
Given the show’s extensive coverage of Aidan and Kathy’s interactions and the revelation that they’ve hooked up, it’s logical that viewers should have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their divorce. We want to know whether Carie Bradshaw somehow influenced that decision. Could Carrie and Aidan’s Abu Dhabi kiss from Sex and the City 2 be to blame? We aren’t sure, but we’d like to know!
‘And Just Like That..’ still needs to address what happened to Professor Nya Wallace
Season 1 of And Just Like That… introduced several new characters. Not all of them were hits, but fans did feel a connection to Professor Nya Wallace. Nya was heavily involved in And Just Like That…’s season 2 storyline. The last time fans saw her, she was walking off with a sexy chef after the end of her long-suffering marriage.
Karen Pittman, the actor who took on the role of Nya, left the series behind to pursue a bigger part. The series has yet to address her absence. We liked Nya and her storyline; it would only make sense for them to explain where she went. After all, she and Miranda Hobbes had become close friends. Never mentioning her again feels wrong.
