AMANDA Holden has won her battle to build an outdoor swimming pool at her historic £2.5 million Cotswolds retreat.
Amanda, 52, and record producer husband Chris Hughes want to excavate part of their 100ft garden to make way for the pool – complete with a tiled surround.

But they needed consent because their traditional 17th Century cottage is Grade II listed and lies near a historic park and garden in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Conservationists had initially branded Amanda’s planned structure at the thatched property an “ill-proportioned modern affair”.
Despite their concerns, officials at the local council gave the pool the go-ahead and allowed the Britain’s Got Talent star to keep the shed after there were no objections from neighbours.
The planning officer ruled: “Given the large size of the garden at the property, officers feel the pool in this location would not detract from the character or setting of the main dwelling.
“Furthermore, the proposed pool would not be visible on the street scene and therefore would not give rise to any adverse impacts in regards of visual amenity.”

The couple plan to turn the existing shed into a plant room for the 36x13ft pool at her 17th Century thatched home.
The planning officer added: “With regard to the impact on the listed building, the proposed is not considered to obscure the historical architecture of the existing listed building.
“Given the location of the pool and its simple form, low lying nature and relative modest size, it is considered that the proposal would not impact upon the character or setting of the heritage asset.”
Amanda bought the four-bedroom rural retreat for £860,000 in 2011 as a weekend hideaway and holiday home for husband Chris and daughters Lexi, 17 and Hollie, 11, but it is now believed to be worth £2.5 million.
In 2012, she was given the go-ahead to keep new entrance gates built without planning permission.
She was also given the green light for a kitchen and garden room extension and conversion of a garage into a granny annexe for a nanny.
Other famous residents who live nearby include David and Victoria Beckham, Jeremy Clarkson Blur bassist Alex James.
Amanda also owned a £5million home in Surrey but finally sold it this year after having it on the market for a year.
