Michael had been a costume supervisor on Benidorm while Tony played the role of hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke.
Now Tony has revealed his friend has sadly died.
He wrote: “Thank you so much to everyone for all your efforts in reposting our appeal to find Michael yesterday.
“I’m so sad to say that we found out late last night that we’ve lost our beautiful friend.
“Our whole Benidorm family is devastated and we’ll miss him hugely. RIP Michael.”
It comes after Tony posted a photo of the pair and asked followers for their help.
He said: “This is our friend Michael McGarrigle. Michael is a valued member of our Benidorm family having worked on the show as our costume supervisor for many years.
“He has been missing for several days, last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Glasgow area.
“We, his friends and family are extremely concerned for his safety and would appeal to anyone who may have seen him in the last 48 hours to contact Glasgow Police.”
Tony has been a part of the Coronation Street cast since 2020, playing George Shuttleworth on the show since 2020.
His career began when he earned a role in the film A Life for a Life in 1998, in which he played Stefan Kiszko.
He has since starred in numerous TV shows including Doc Martin, Miss Marple and Ordinary Lives.
He has also featured in many films including 1999’s Sleepy Hollow, playing Van Ripper.
Tony joined the star-studded Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix cast, as Grawp, Hagrid’s giant brother.
In December 2023, he joined the Coronation Street team on the annual festive ITV show The Big Quiz: Coronation Street vs Emmerdale.
