Tori Amos started out as lead singer of 80s pop-rock group Y Kant Tori Read.

She is well-known for her 90s smash-hit Professional Widow, which reached No1 in the UK in 1996.

The classically trained star looked much different at her Tori and the Muses event in New York City.

With trademark red hair on display, she also sported glasses for the special occasion.

Tori and the Muses is the singer’s debut picture book for children.

Tori revealed on Instagram that an audio book version – which she recorded herself – is now available.

The star’s followers soon flocked to her comments section to show support.

One commented: “Get that Grammy for best audio book next year queen!”

Another penned: “Gifts just keep coming. Thank you, Tori.”

While a third chimed in: “Thank you, T!”

Professional Widow appeared on her Boys For Pele album with a remix by Armand van Helden.

Released as Professional Widow (It’s Got to Be Big), the track became an era-defining club classic.

Anyone around in the late 90s likely heard the song, with its repeating intro: “Honey bring it close to my lips, yeah.”

Tori first rose to fame due to her 1992 album Little Earthquakes, followed a year later by 1993’s Under The Pink.

She has achieved three Top 10 singles – including Professional Widow (It’s Got To Be Big), Pretty Good Year and Cornflake Girl, which spent seven weeks in the chart.

As for off-stage, Tori wed English sound engineer Mark Hawley in February 1998.

The couple welcomed a daughter together back in 2000.
