SUGABABES are at the centre of a bidding war by record labels after staging the biggest pop comeback of the year.
The original line-up of the Nineties girlband, Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy, are planning to return to the studio in 2023, which will mark the 25th anniversary of the group’s formation.

I’ve been told that several record labels are vying to work with the trio after an incredible year in which they headlined London’s Mighty Hoopla festival, toured the country and caused chaos at Glastonbury with one of the most in-demand sets of the festival.
A music insider said: “There are lots of Nineties and Noughties acts which reunite and it’s a bit cheesy and full of nostalgia, but the original Sugababes are actually cool, credible artists.
“They have really impressed people at the major labels this year with their voices.
“The reaction from fans proves they are really a viable act to have huge success with new music.
“They have some great ideas for songs and reckon they can win over a whole new generation of Sugababes fans.
“The hope is that they will sign to a label at the beginning of the year and have new music out at some point in the next 12 months.”
The group had a revolving line-up throughout the Noughties but they racked up an impressive 18 Top Ten singles, with six No1s including Freak Like Me, Round Round, Hole In The Head and Push The Button.
On Saturday they surprised fans by uploading to streaming services The Lost Tapes, their unreleased album recorded in 2014 but leaked online before it officially came out.
It has already racked up millions of streams and caused even more excitement about what is to come from the girls.
Next year will see them play their biggest headline show to date at London’s O2 Arena on September 15.
Something tells me they might just have a few new songs to sing by then.

Keen to do her bit, I can reveal that Vicky has been quietly volunteering at a soup kitchen over the festive period.
She told me: “It’s always important to give whatever you can but especially now, with the cost of living crisis.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my life and always will be.
“But when I’ve volunteered and you talk to people, you do realise how vapid some of my life has been.
“Things like going to Dubai for New Year’s Eve just aren’t important any more.”

In an exclusive chat, the DJ and producer, said: “There were a few flights this summer that were a bit dodgy.
“There was one to Italy where the turbulence was awful and everybody was screaming on the plane.
“Me and my team, when we got off the plane we kissed the tarmac and were like, ‘We’re never flying again’ – but of course we did.
“At the start of the summer I was scared.
“I am usually a good flyer but because I had a couple of years off due to Covid, this year doing so many back to back I was always thinking, ‘Have they checked the planes properly? They’ve been sat there for two years doing nothing’.”
Nathan, who has had a stellar year with hits 21 Reasons and Sweet Lies, had a much better experience in October when he met Prince William and Princess Catherine.
They were introduced at an event celebrating the sports charity Coach Core and Nathan, from Burton upon Trent, Staffs, was surprised to learn that fellow Aston Villa supporter William already knew him.
He explained: “I was introduced to Kate and Will and they were very, very nice and humble.
“At the end she went, ‘Don’t forget to go and say hello to Will’, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, does Will know me?’.
“Aston Villa support me massively by playing my music and putting my face all around the stadium and stuff.
“Will goes to a lot of the games so I suppose he couldn’t really miss me. That was quite surreal.”
And he said the down-to-earth royals weren’t fussy about etiquette.
He added: “I was told nothing. I shook Kate’s hand and had a little conversation, there was no pressure on me to do anything.
“It was a special moment.”
