After matriculating, she enrolled at New York University to study film writing and directing, and concurrently also started to practice acting. She took the name Mann as an abbreviation from her actual surname, before she began acting professionally in the mid-2000s. She initially appeared in several independent films and short films, including “The Memsahib”, “Monsoon”, “The Punching Dummy”, and “Ner Tamid”.
Big Bang Theory
Mann continued to develop her acting prowess by taking classes in Los Angeles, and her passion for the arts grew. She took part in commercials for Volvo, and then started to gain more roles, appearing in an episode of the web series turned television series “Quarterlife”, before guest-starring in an episode of the series “Heroes”, which focuses on ordinary people discovering they had superpowers. She then had a one episode role in “The Young and the Restless”, before gaining her most notable role in “The Big Bang Theory”, a sitcom originally focusing on five characters living in Pasadena, California.

The five characters are two physicists, a waitress who lives across the hall, and two geeky friends of the physicists. In the following seasons, more characters had starring roles, and numerous recurring characters were also cast. The show initially drew a mixed reception but improved over time, and has been nominated numerous times, receiving many awards over its entire run. In the show, Aarti plays the role of Raj’s younger sister, and is one of the lead attorneys with India’s biggest car companies. She would have an on-off relationship with one of the main characters Leonard, before it was later announced that she had already married during the 10th season.

After her appearances in “The Big Bang Theory”, Mann continued to take guest roles in other popular shows, including “Leverage”, “Suits”, “Scandal”, and “Wendell & Vinnie”. In 2012, she was cast in the independent film entitled “Sharon 1.2.3” which focuses on the story of a New Yorker having casual sex with two women named Sharon before meeting a third one of the same name. The film is made by JuntoBox Films, a known independent film company based in Santa Monica, California. She appeared in other independent films in 2015, including “Danny Collins” and “I’ll See You in My Dreams”. A few of her latest projects include guest roles in “NCIS: New Orleans”, and “Grey’s Anatomy”.

For her personal life, it is known that Aarti is married to Puvesh Mankad, who works in the finance industry, and they have a daughter together. Despite having medical professionals as parents, none of Aarti’s siblings pursued a similar career. Her brother became a journalist while her sister was the one responsible for influencing her to try her hand at acting. Her sister is a filmmaker who she worked with in her first film – “The Memsahib”.
