About Wisconsin Volleyball Pictures

The University of Wisconsin and its police department have initiated an inquiry following the online publication of private images and video of the women’s volleyball team that were never intended for public consumption.

Wednesday afternoon, the Badgers’ athletic department released a statement indicating that student-athletes contacted the UW-Madison Police Department after realising that photos they had shot were circulating on social media.

UW Athletics stated, “We are aware that private images and videos of UW volleyball players that were never intended to be published publicly are being circulated digitally.”
“The unauthorised disclosure is a serious and unlawful invasion of the student-athletes’ privacy, as well as possible violations of university policy and criminal statutes.”

The UWPD is investigating various offences, including the unauthorised distribution of sensitive photographs.

The photographs and videos were likely taken after the squad won the Big Ten championship in November of last year. Reportedly, one of the photographs depicts several members of the squad lifting and posing with their sports bras. The photographs were private and were never intended for public seeing.
The majority of the images have been removed from the internet.

UW Athletics stated, “Our main goal is supporting our student-athletes, and we are providing them with the necessary services and resources.”

The Washington women’s volleyball team presently holds a 13-3 record and is ranked fifth in the nation.
