Counter-terrorism police have charged a 44-year-old man after a neighbour allegedly noticed a swastika flag at his home north-west of Brisbane.

Police received the report and searched a home in Cashmere on Wednesday, where they allegedly found the flag publicly displayed.

Body-cam footage also showed officers uncovering a book depicting Adolf Hitler on the cover.

The man was not home at the time but handed himself in at police headquarters the following day.

Police have since charged him with one count of publicly displaying a prohibited symbol and have issued him a notice to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court later this month.
