Paramedics were called to Woorim Beach, about 70 kilometres north of Brisbane, at 4.45pm.

It is believed the girl was bitten on the arm 100m offshore.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was unable to be saved.

The beach was filled with people at the time of the attack, who may have witnessed the attack.

Emergency crews are still on the scene.
