A man has been charged with murder after the death of a two-year-old boy in Tamworth.

Emergency services were called to a home in Tamworth about 3.45pm on January 18 when a child was found unconscious.

Paramedics treated the child at the scene before taking him to Tamworth Base Hospital.

The boy later died in hospital.

Police started an investigation into the death with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

A 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday at 6.45pm.

Today he was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with murder (domestic violence).

The man was refused bail overnight and appeared in Parramatta Bail Court today.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Tamworth Local Court in April.
