A four-year-old boy and a man have died in a crash on Australia Day in Brisbane.

The boy was in a blue Holden Commodore that collided with a red Mitsubishi Lancer on Rickertt Road at the intersection with Chelsea Road in Ransome just before 9am.

The driver of the Commodore, a 37-year-old Manly West man, died at the scene.

The boy was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he died, Queensland Police said.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 29-year-old Birkdale man, suffered minor injuries.

Forensic crash officers are investigating.

Police have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam vision to call 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
