Emergency services were told the man was having difficulty in the water.

Murray River Police responded to the call, along with Victoria Police, Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue NSW, and the SES.

Police said in a statement this afternoon the body of a man was found in nearby waters about 11.45am today.

The body has not yet been formally identified, but police believe it is the missing swimmer.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
