Wendy Williams’ family is reportedly seeking an “esteemed and honest” attorney to help the former radio and TV personality in her guardianship battle. Especially after Williams claimed she had never met her guardianship attorney Robert Kaplan, who recently said she would need care for the rest of her life due to her frontotemporal dementia and aphasia diagnosis.

“The family of Wendy Williams wishes to address the current circumstances surrounding her guardianship and her ongoing journey toward reclaiming her self-determination,” the family said in a statement, per Daily Mail.

“As we navigate this challenging time, we believe it is crucial to advocate for Wendy’s rights and autonomy.”

“Our primary goal is to ensure that Wendy’s best interests are being served and that she has the opportunity to regain control over her life and decisions.”

The message continued: “Wendy is an extraordinary individual who has inspired countless people through her work and personal journey. It is our firm belief that she deserves the opportunity to live with dignity and make her own choices, free from undue influence.”

“We are hoping that — through the legal system — we can shed light on this situation and work toward a resolution that honors Wendy’s voice and wishes. We ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this complex process, and we thank Wendy’s fans and supporters for their unwavering love and encouragement during this time to “#FREEWENDY.”

The family concluded their statement by noting that Williams “has always been a fighter” and promising to ensure that “she has the resources and representation she deserves.”

“Together, we will work diligently to help Wendy reclaim her self-determination,” they said.

A rep for Williams did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Earlier this week, “Friends of the Williams Family” organized the “Support Wendy Williams’ Fight for Independence” fundraiser, aiming to speed up “her return” from her current New York wellness facility to Miami — what the organizers are considering to be her “rightful home” and where her elderly father lives.

“For far too long, Wendy has faced the challenges of being unjustly placed under guardianship and labeled as incapacitated, despite her strong will and determination to live her life independently,” the page read.

The fight for Williams to be released from her guardianship arrangement made headlines recently after the former “Wendy Williams” show host shut down claims of her being “cognitively impaired” during an appearance on the “Breakfast Club.”

“I feel like I am in prison,” Williams said. “I am definitely isolated. To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea.”

“I keep the door closed,” she continued. “I watch TV. I listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.”
