Bill Maher Sorta Kinda Endorses Trump's Administration

The vibe shift continues apace–in fact, it is accelerating.

American banks have all bailed on the Net Zero coalition, as Beege wrote about (darn! I was all set to write a post when she beat me to it!), and a few celebrities have expressed relief that the era of witch hunts is over, CNN can’t get enough of Scott Jennings, newspapers and TV are either dying or trying to reform, and corporations are dropping DEI as if it were the poison we all knew it was.

And, as Ed just wrote, Donald Trump is for the first time ever, more popular with Americans than not.

Yet another sign of the world healing, Bill Maher who until recently suffered a major case of TDS, is now musing that…perhaps…the Trump administration might wind up being good for America.

Maher hasn’t exactly gone MAGA yet–I doubt he ever will–but he and Stephen A. Smith (another former TDS sufferer) discussed the possibility that Trump’s bull-in-the-chyna shop (see what I did there?) attack on the size and scope and government might yield some positive results.

The government needs a colonoscopy, and Dr. Trump might be the only doctor who can extract the many polyps. Personally, I look forward to seeing the administrative agencies endure the colon prep, as it were, expelling all that accumulated gunk.

TMI? Can you blame me? I just had a colonoscopy on Tuesday. When Maher used the metaphor, it hit home.

Maher has been red-pilled on a lot of issues such as immigration, trans issues, and most of the woke agenda. In his Club Random podcast with John Cryer, he defended the American people’s rejection of Democrats on the issues.

Maher is still a liberal, but he was left behind as the liberals raced to the far left.

Maher rightly notes that a lot of the insanity on the left is due to the tightly controlled information bubble. Cryer, for instance, seemed to think that the border was strictly controlled and that the illegal immigration surge was overblown. He simply doesn’t know what is happening. Other things, like the left’s inability to recognize that all cultures are not just wonderful, is the result of crazy indoctrination.

When I was in academia, I saw this insanity all the time. A friend of mine–a truly wonderful person–was an art historian focused on Africa, and she defended female genital mutilation as simply a product of a different culture. It may seem barbaric to a privileged Westerner to slice a woman’s genitals with a broken Coke bottle, but that is simply cultural imperialism.

I left academia for a reason. The ideological bubble makes you insane.

Whatever magic Trump has is working; more and more people are waking up from their fever dream. Perhaps the disconnect between reality and the lefty bubble became just too big to ignore, or maybe it is Trump’s inverse reality distortion effect, but something has changed in the zeitgeist.

Whatever it is, I hope it has happened in time.
