Fast food giant McDonalds is banking on snack-related patriotism after announcing a wave of Australia-themed releases.

The McOz beef burger, complete with beetroot slice, is back on the menu for the first time since 2018.

It’s partnered by the Chicken McOz, while Maccas has also teamed with Vegemite to offer new shaker fried infused with the iconic spread’s flavour.

On the dessert menu, the Cadbury Crunchie McFlurry is back, with a new Cadbury Crunchie frappe, and a caramel thickshake.

The “Squad Down Under Bundle” meal, meanwhile, offers two McOz and two “core” burgers, four medium Vegemite McShaker fries, four medium drinks and a limited edition “Squad” bucket hat.

The squad in question consists of McDonald’s characters Birdie, Hamburglar, Grimace, and Officer Big Mac.

The new additions to the menu are available from today with the exception of the caramel thickshake, which launched on January 22.

“This summer, we’re serving up Aussie favourites with a menu full of local flavours and feel-good moments,” McDonald’s Australia marketing director Amanda Nakad said.

The new menu items will only be available for an unspecified limited period.
