Richmond star Noah Balta has been charged with assault after an altercation at a sports club on the NSW-Victoria border.

Police were called to a sports club in Mulwala about 12.30am on Monday after reports of an assault.

A 27-year-old was treated by paramedics for cuts to his head and was taken to nearby Yarrawonga hospital in a stable condition.

Yesterday, 25-year-old Balta was arrested at Mulwala Police Station about 11.30am.

Balta, who plays for Richmond, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was given conditional bail, and is expected to appear before Corrorow Local Court on January 30.

In a statement, the club confirmed that Balta had been charged.

“As the matter is now before the courts the club can make no further comment,” It said.

“The club has made the AFL aware of the incident.”
