A mother and son have been injured by a falling tree branch near the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.
A large branch of a gum tree fell on two men and a woman from Sydney as they were leaving the shrine at the Royal Botanical Gardens about 1.30pm.
Police said the group was walking towards St Kilda Road when the branch fell.
The 57-year-old woman was taken rushed the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition with upper body injuries.
Her 21-year-old son was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
A 56-year-old man suffered scratches but didn’t need treatment.
It’s not known what caused the branches to fall. The weather forecast for the city is for light winds.
The area has been cordoned off while an arborist examines the tree.
