It was at an Amart support centre in Rochedale where police say a 41-year-old man stormed in with a fishing knife after ramming the shopfront with his car this morning.

When police arrived, he allegedly turned on them before he was shot.

It’s not clear why the man showed up to the store.

9News understands a member of the public called triple zero after spotting a man driving erratically.

The man’s car was seized by police.

He has undergone surgery and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Charges are yet to be laid.

It’s understood numerous Amart employees witnessed the ordeal, with police now reviewing CCTV, phone and police body worn footage as they continue to investigate the shooting.

It will be referred to the ethical standards command.

“They thought they were going to a traffic related job to then turning to a situation to use a firearm because their lives are threatened,” Shane Prior from the Police Union said

“What they will find is the actions of these brave officers today were lawful and justified.”
