Cricket fans are set to swelter at the MCG tomorrow, with temperatures of up to 39 degrees forecast.

The sweltering Melbourne day will likely have cricket fans sweating – and not just because of the action between Australia and India.

If it gets any hotter it could set a record.

Sydney will be a cooler 29 degrees on Boxing Day, with light winds and sunny skies.

Brisbane will be 30 degrees and sunny, Adelaide 31 degrees with a chance of showers.

Perth will be a much cooler 25 degrees, and Hobart 30 degrees with some rain likely.

Canberra is set to hit 35 degrees, while Darwin will top out at 34 degrees.

The Top End city is also facing the possibility of a thunderstorm.
