Police have charged a 27-year-old man over a suspected hit and run after a man in his 20s was allegedly left for dead on the site of a remote road in rural Far North Queensland.

The deceased man was found on Martyville Road near Innisfail south of Cairns at 5.20am on Christmas morning.
