“Burt” appeared alongside Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski in the iconic 1986 film, and is believed to have lived to be more than 90 years old.
The average lifespan of a saltwater crocodile is more than 70 years old.
The reptile park where Burt has lived paid tribute to the iconic crocodile, saying his death marked “the end of an incredible era.”
”Burt’s life story is one of strength, resilience, and a personality as bold as the Top End itself,” keepers at Crocosaurus Cove Darwin wrote.
“Burt became one of the most recognised crocodiles in the world, appearing in Crocodile Dundee and helping to shape Australia’s image as a land of rugged natural beauty and awe-inspiring wildlife.”

The mighty saltie was first captured at Reynolds River in the NT in the 1980s.
Burt had lived at Crocosaurus Cove since 2007.
“Burt was a confirmed bachelor—an attitude he made clear during his earlier years at a crocodile far,” the reptile park wrote.
“His fiery temperament earned him the respect of his caretakers and visitors alike, as he embodied the raw and untamed spirit of the saltwater crocodile.
“Burt was truly one of a kind. He wasn’t just a crocodile; he was a force of nature and a reminder of the power and majesty of these incredible creatures.”
The park plans to install a commemorative sign where his attraction used to be.
