Months after she allegedly left the scene of a hit-and-run that left a man seriously injured, a Florida woman appeared in court after being arrested for the crime.
Tydaijah Murray, 29, was arrested on Thursday and appeared in front of a judge the following day, charged with leaving the scene of a crash, failure to stop at an accident scene, and driving with a suspended license. She was also charged with resisting arrest. The incident took place on Aug. 11 when Eugene (Yevhenii) Arsirii, a hairdresser who had just moved to the area, was helping another driver move their disabled vehicle out of the road. While in the middle of his good deed, he and two other people were slammed into by another driver from behind, allegedly Murray. Arsirii was seriously injured and eventually had his right leg amputated.
Court records show that Murray has a long history of traffic violations and other infractions going back to 2016, including a 2019 hit-and-run case in which she pleaded no contest. At the time of the crash, she was allegedly driving with a suspended license and without insurance.
WPLG, a local ABC affiliate, obtained the crash report, which stated that one of the other victims of the crash followed the driver — later identified as Murray — to a home immediately following the collision. According to that report, Murray allegedly claimed that she didn’t know who was driving the car then but later admitted that she was the driver.
Arsirii’s family started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his medical expenses and rehabilitation. On the page, they described how serious his injuries were, saying that he had been in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital, and there was a chance he could lose both of his legs. He “underwent multiple surgeries” and faced a ” challenging and uncertain road to recovery.” They also wrote that they feared he would ultimately not be awarded any compensation.
During her Friday court appearance, a judge ordered that Murray be held in custody on $280,000 bail. Should she post bail, she was ordered to surrender her passport and refrain from driving or contacting Arsirii’s family. She would also be required to wear a monitor to track her whereabouts and alcohol or drug use.
