An eight-year-old girl who was taken by a man from a child safety facility in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast region has been found safe and well.

Queensland Police issued an amber alert over the girl’s disappearance this morning.

She is under the care of the Department of Child Safety and was taken from a facility in Maroochydore about 10.45am by a man believed to be known to her.

A central Queensland woman has been charged with attempted murder.

Detective Acting Inspector Scott Wiggins said the man forcibly took the girl from the facility while others were around.

He then put her into a car and drove away.

Wiggins said the man failed to answer or respond to any contact from police. 

PolAir helped officers track down the man and his car. 

After a frantic search, the girl was found at Errah Vale about 6pm.

A 38-year-old man was also found and is being questioned by police.
