The spherical egg was first discovered by a woman in Scotland, who found the round chicken’s egg at her local Asda supermarket in the Scottish town of Ayr.
She sent the egg to the Iuventas Foundation, an English youth charity that organises regular fundraisers.
The egg was placed up for Auction, and was finally purchased on December 11 when Ed Pownall, from Lambourn, Berkshire paid £200 for the egg.
He told the BBC it was “Money Well Spent.”
The chance of a chicken laying a perfectly round egg is believed to be about 1-in-1 billion eggs.
