A Queensland father of two has been sentenced after being paid to clean up an alleged murder scene in Sydney’s south-west and dump the body.

Charles Turnbull, 33, flew to Sydney to dispose of 22-year-old Darcy Schafer-Turner’s body in Port Macquarie on NSW’s Mid North Coast.

The 22-year-old was allegedly murdered in a Peakhurst unit, in Sydney’s south-west, following a drug dispute in April.

Turnbull was paid $30,000 to clean up the scene and dispose of the body.

The father had used his own Uber account to travel to the unit where Schafer-Turner was allegedly killed.

Turnbull had googled refrigerated trucks for hire and was captured on CCTV footage at Bunnings buying cleaning supplies, cable ties and a large metal cabinet.

He put the body into the cabinet and travelled to Port Macquarie, where he then purchased a boat and took it to a creek near Macksville.

The 22-year-old’s body, which was inside the metal cabinet, was dumped into the water before he texted his co-accused: “It’s done.”

Turnbull was arrested in Brisbane and extradited to NSW.

At first, he told detectives it was “just some easy money”.

He later told the court, ”I am horrified by myself”, and pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to manslaughter.

He was sentenced to three years in prison and will be eligible for release in May next year.

Another man, Zachary Fraser, has pleaded not guilty to murder and manslaughter and will face trial next year.
