A man whose legs were crushed during a workplace accident in Queensland has died in hospital.

Paramedics were called to a private property in Owanyilla on the Fraser Coast, about 250km north of Brisbane, at 3.20pm yesterday to an accident involving an excavator.

The man, aged 55, had life-threatening leg injuries and was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital by helicopter.

He has since died in hospital.

It’s believed the man was at his workplace when the accident happened.

Police today confirmed the death of the man.

“Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the non-suspicious death of a 55-year-old man in Owanyilla on December 10,” a spokesperson said.
