Will Mellor vows to find a way to bring back Two Pints of Lager despite BBC blocking his plans

WILL MELLOR is desperate to bring back Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps – despite BBC bosses trying to thwart his plans.

The British actor says he and Ralf Little are trying to make it happen as is show writer Susan Nickson though mood killing BBC execs keep blocking plans.

Will, who has teamed up with Virgin Media O2 front their data poverty campaign, said: “The script is done.

“I wanted to bring it back for a season but the BBC said no and BBC THREE said no. It was quite a cult thing, I still get stopped in the street now. I know Ralf is the same as me – he wants to bring it back.”

He added: “Susan owns it as she wrote it but the BBC have the licence on it and I’m not sure when it runs out.

“I said why can’t we do it and put it out ourselves but I don’t want to be that person who charges £5 to watch it, things are getting expensive enough as it is.”

Will’s new campaign sees O2 offer free data nationwide to those in need after discovering 19% of Brits know someone who is unable to afford mobile data to help them with their lives.

Will said: “I’m from a working class background so I know what it’s like – I feel a duty to help others. People don’t need to be ashamed.

“I want people to know that there is no shame and that they can go down to their store and ask for help. So many of us are in data poverty and it cuts you off from your friends and your loved ones especially at Christmas.

Everything is on your phone now so it’s not like before – you really do need it, be it for a video call or a job application.”

Keen to give back beyond the campaign, Will, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022, says he always stresses the importance of helping others to his children Jayden and Renee.

Will said: “On Christmas Eve I save up some money and go round my town and give it to the homeless, otherwise I feel this guilt. The divide between the rich and the poor is getting bigger and I don’t like it.

Over the years I’ve taken my kids in the run to to Christmas to my local children’s hospital with their old toys to hand in to show them that’s what we should do, help others.”
