Wisconsin Man Charged in Fatal Shooting at ‘Friendsgiving’ Event

A Wisconsin man has been arrested after he shot two people, one fatally, last week at a “Friendsgiving” event.

The shooting took place on November 21 in Milwaukee. Nasif Bowie, 25, died from his injuries, and the other man was taken to a hospital for treatment, WITI reported.

Kwon Burdine was arrested on Tuesday after investigators found his driver’s license in the bathroom and a tequila bottle with his fingerprints.

They also found nine spent 9mm casings. A 9mm handgun was recovered when Burdine was arrested at a home in Green Bay.

According to a criminal complaint, Burdine told detectives that he went to the party with a handgun because he had $10,000 on him and “this was Milwaukee.”

He told the investigators he’d been drinking and suddenly realized his money was missing. Assuming he’d either lost it or been pickpocketed, he said he shut the door and told the other partygoers no one was leaving until he got his money back.

At some point, the people at the party began hitting him, he said, and the gun fell out of his pocket onto the floor. He said he struggled with Bowie for the weapon and that he discharged it about six times, striking the two victims.

Burdine was charged with reckless homicide, reckless injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, using a dangerous weapon, and habitual criminality. He made an initial appearance in court on Friday and was given a cash bond of $200,000.
