Floyd Mayweather Jr., the retired boxing champ, has been spotted house hunting in downtown Manhattan, Gimme Shelter can reveal exclusively.
The search comes as Mayweather signed a $402 million contract to buy 1,000 units of affordable housing, according to reports.
One spot Mayweather eyed was former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick’s Soho penthouse, which is asking an eye-popping $150,000 a month — the city’s most expensive rental, as Gimme previously revealed exclusively. The penthouse duplex, at 565 Broome St., is a full-floor spread that’s not publicly listed on the market.
The palatial pad comes with its own pool on the roof of the neighborhood’s tallest building — a curved, 30-story glass-walled tower built in 2016 by Pritzker Prize-winning Italian architect Renzo Piano, who also designed the Whitney Museum close by. At 6,655 square feet, this aerie comes with three terraces in total, panoramic city views and a private elevator. There are also 16-foot-high ceilings in the great room, a library and a wet bar.
Mayweather was also spotted looking at a $95,000-a-month furnished maisonette at 15 Leonard St. in Tribeca. The four-bedroom, 7,796-square-foot abode was also asking $19.95 million for sale until it was yanked off the market earlier this month. The massive home features 3,000 square feet of outdoor space over three terraces and three courtyards.
In that same Tribeca building, Mayweather also looked at an $80,000-a-month, five-bedroom, 4,574-square-foot penthouse triplex that is also asking $18.95 million for sale — down from its $19.95 million ask last year.
That dwelling comes with 1,570 square feet of outdoor space over six balconies. Both units are listed with Andrew Azoulay of the Firm.
Mayweather was spotted at the showings with Serhant broker Talia McKinney and an entourage. “He arrived with his crew in a convoy of black SUVs because that’s the way he rolls,” a friend said.
McKinney could not be reached for comment.
