Travel chaos at Brisbane Airport as software glitch sparks major delays

A major software outage has sparked travel chaos at Brisbane Airport leaving passengers fuming over significant delays to their weekend flights. 

The glitch, understood to have affected both the international and domestic terminals, occurred at about 9.30am local time on Saturday. 

Brisbane Airport issued an alert to travellers on X that the technical issue would cause disruptions to flights. 

‘Passengers are advised that some airlines are currently impacted by a software outage, which may result in delays,’ the alert stated. 

‘Please check with your airline for further information.’ 

Frustrated Aussies took to social media to claim the outage had left passengers on board planes unable to get off the aircraft.

‘My husband landed at 8.17am today and he’s still on the plane waiting for you to let the plane park and disembark,’ one irate woman wrote. 

‘It’s 9.11am, almost one hour. Is this normal? Why are you keeping those passengers waiting?’

Brisbane Airport responded to the complaint saying the outage has impacted some airlines and resulted in delays. 

Officials issued an update on X just after 2pm to advise that the outage has been fixed.

‘The software outage has now been resolved. Please check with your airline for further information,’ the alert read.
